Seesaw Sonnet

The greatest work of wonder found in parks
That moves the children greatly, up and down
Where smiling kids bare teeth like great white sharks
The seesaw! Where much laughter is abound

Except when those great sharks do find their prey
And leap off when their victims near the sky
So cruelly just for laughs they do betray
And watch their victim plummet—horrified

And to the fallen child, a lesson learned
The bruises and the bumps do then reveal
That just as trust is something to be earned
Betrayal leaves it's mark like sharpened steel

But when you find that one you know is true
The seesaw brings great joy to them and you!

What a marvelously simple social teaching tool! So much fun when you were with someone you knew you could trust. Yet all of it's great social benefits have been removed from parks because, presumably, bumps and bruises are worse for children than anti-social behavior. I expect the seesaws in heaven will be 10 times bigger with trustworthiness aplenty.
