You must be wondering why a small pebble was so sad. The way he put it, he wanted more from life. A lot more than this, anyway. “Life? Ha!” the other pebbles would say. “We’re pebbles. We’re only meant to be lying around!” But this pebble felt differently. He never felt like other pebbles.
One day during a particularly rainy day, the pebble found himself buried in mud. “How dreadful!” He thought, feeling very sorry for himself. That night something very strange happened. He felt something awaken inside him—an unshackling of his spirit.
Over the next weeks he felt a growing warmth in himself as he crept slowly upward until he broke through the dirt. He could feel the light of the sun shine down on him and fill him with love and purpose. He sensed the magic of the journey ahead and smiled up at the heavens.
The other pebbles laughed when they realized they were talking to a seed the whole time, but they seemed to find everything amusing.
